Why do artists create the art that they do? Thought forms that want to be made physical. Energies. Entities. An infinite stream in which we plunge & swim around awhile til we're wet & heavy with inspiration. I don't know. "Awakening" feels like a liberation, a light. Unleashing. Surrendering. A divine permission slip made manifest to express freely; vulnerably. Again & again. Vulnerability & self expression are common themes for me & I discuss them a lot - because showing up as an authentic human, especially an artist, is such a vulnerable act. Somehow simultaneously the best feeling & also the worst. And sometimes I'm so exhausted of the push & pull. I hope with time & practice it gets easier, becomes a new normal even; more empowered, more fearless. Because sometimes I'm just miserable about it. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. But curiosity is an endlessly nurturing sustenance. Who do I get to be if I keep walking the path? Where will courage lead? What does the mastery of one's craft even look like... feel like? & what ripples, in the lives of the collective, will be made along the way?
